Second and Done

Vaccination clinic in the old Campus School at BSU

Taylor giving me my second COVID-19 shot at BSU

Thursday, April 22nd, I received my second dose of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine. When it was administered, I didn’t feel a thing. No need for a bandage, either. I was so happy and relieved, and also felt prepared for the side effects. My husband had his second dose earlier in the week and experienced chills, fever and fatigue.

About 6:30, the fever had set in. I keep hydrated throughout the day as a precaution. I took some Tylenol and went to bed. It was a miserable night. Shooting spark feelings down my arm and then throughout my body, along with chills and aches and pains. Giant headache. I got up at 2:30 to try to get myself together for work and….NOPE.

I landed in the vomitorium. I kept telling myself these heavy side effects were my body buffing up the supply of antibodies and T-lymphocytes. But it was crummy. I couldn’t go to work. I blacked out, too. The side effects surprised me. I felt better Saturday, but even today, my brain feels fuzzy.

And the dreams. Crazy, crazy dreams when I did get some sleep. More about that in the COVID dreams post. How has your vaccine experience been?
